Royal Deeside Motor Show

Next up, we have Andy who is currently Chairman of Buchan Offroad Drivers Club (BORDC) and indeed the club champion from 2020. This accolade was achieved driving his beloved Defender which he maintains and develops in his workshop at home along with various other purposeful vehicles.

Andy’s Defender 90 is driven regularly on the road and is a frequent competitor in the whole range of BORDC’s events.

The engine is the old school 300tdi which has an enduring reputation and is coupled with a manual transmission and uprated axle internals for reliability.

The suspension is lightly modified from standard with long travel shock absorbers on the rear and a 2 inch lift all round from the springs.

A roll cage has been fitted lately just in case the worst happens but will hopefully never be needed though the winches front and rear are in frequent use for self-recovery and retrieving others.

In this photo, you will see a mini version of his truck which the club built on a lawn mower chassis to participate in previous Cartie race down the drive at Kincardine Castle.

The big kids go for the big toys and the little kids like the mini me version. No change really throughout the 37 year history of Buchan Off Road Drivers Club. Have a peek at their website to find out more.

It has been nearly four months since we started planning the inaugural Royal Deeside Motor Show and we have genuinely been overwhelmed by the support and appetite for staging this celebration of all things motor, at the beautiful destination of Kincardine Castle and Estate.

We receive noted interests on a daily basis from individuals, clubs, local and national businesses and organisations who continue to express their enthusiasm to get involved, and passion for the motor industry. If you await a personal response from us, please bear with us as we pour over each email received.
